Work Placement at Roman
Leading International shower designer and manufacturer, Roman, has welcomed university student Annalise Fysh on a month’s work placement.
19 year old Fysh has just completed her first year at Sheffield Hallam University, where she studies Media Studies. She is particularly interested in journalism and public relations and approached Roman to see if it would be possible to gain some work experience in their Marketing Department.
After completing her first week at Roman, she has already undertaken various tasks. Tasks include writing blog posts; content for the Roman and Roman at Home websites; creating email campaigns; and has helped on a photo shoot. Roman has also given Fysh the opportunity to gain a clear insight into their PR department with introductions to the various magazines that Roman targets and then having a go at writing her own press releases.
Fysh has been shown every stage of the Roman manufacturing process, to give her a broad understanding of how the company works and what products she is going to help market. She has also been involved in various meetings across the business to give her further insight into how the different departments work together and what the different departments do.
In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in public relations because of her enthusiasm towards blogging and writing, which has been encouraged whilst on placement at Roman.
When asking Fysh about how she has found her time at Roman so far, she said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Roman so far. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. The tasks I have been involved with have made me really excited for the future.”
Roman welcome at least one summer work experience placement every year in the Marketing Department and in other areas of the company. They also have various apprenticeships in different departments of the business from IT; engineering; customer services’ and joinery.
David Osborne, Managing Director of Roman, commented: “Here at Roman we have always been a big supporter of work placements to give young people the opportunity to get first-hand experience in the working environment.”
